Producer & Relationship

Our relationship with Cata Export began in 2019, at a time when both Cata and Sweven were still in their earliest stages. Since then, it has grown into one of our closest and most meaningful partnerships, built on shared values, trust and a mutual pursuit of quality.

Founded by Catalina Gutiérrez and Pierre Fargetton, Cata Export works closely with producers across Colombia, creating long term relationships centred around transparency, sustainability and fair value at origin. Through their work, producers such as Jhoan Vergara, Henry Bonilla, Franky Hoyos and Lino Rodriguez have gained wider recognition for their exceptional coffees and progressive approach to processing.

This coffee forms part of the Cata Project, our ongoing seasonal espresso collaboration focused on creating expressive coffees designed especially for milk beverages. Each release is built around texture, sweetness and clarity, aiming to produce an espresso profile that remains vibrant and characterful through milk while still holding balance and definition on its own.

Every release reflects a collective effort between producer, exporter and roaster, shaped through ongoing dialogue, experimentation and shared ambition. The coffees selected for this lot stood out for their layered sweetness, structure and vivid character, qualities that continue to define why this collaboration remains such an important part of our programme.

Coffee Profile

This lot is produced from Chiroso, a Colombian variety celebrated for its intensely aromatic profile and vibrant, fruit driven character. Through careful processing, the variety develops a deeper sweetness and a more structured, confection-like profile while maintaining clarity in the cup.

Cherries are harvested at peak ripeness before undergoing a carefully controlled series of anaerobic and oxidation stages, designed to build intensity, texture and complexity without overwhelming the character of the variety. Drying is then carried out slowly in a controlled environment to preserve clarity and stability.

Named "Kaleidoscope", this lot was designed with milk beverages in mind, where the coffee reveals shifting layers of sweetness, fruit and texture throughout the cup. Even through milk, the profile remains vivid and expressive, constantly evolving as it cools.

In the cup, expect maraschino, coconut and ferrero rocher. There is a rich chocolate dessert-like sweetness, balanced by vibrant playful acidity and a coating texture that lingers with remarkable clarity.

This is a bold and characterful espresso profile, shaped through careful processing and the close collaboration that continues to define the Cata Project.
