Producer & Relationship

The Rodriguez family have been at the forefront of Bolivian specialty coffee for decades, with Pedro Rodriguez helping redefine what is possible for coffee production in the Yungas region. Today, that vision continues alongside his daughter Daniela, whose work combines meticulous agronomy, innovative processing and an unwavering commitment to quality.

Our relationship with Pedro and Daniela began with the launch of Sweven Roastery in 2022, and since then we have proudly shared a number of remarkable coffees from their farms, including Batian and Java. This release marks another milestone, introducing their Geisha to the Sweven collection for the very first time.

Produced at Finca La Llama, the highest of the Los Rodriguez farms, this coffee benefits from a unique mountain microclimate where cool temperatures, mineral rich soils and regular afternoon mist encourage slow cherry maturation and exceptional sweetness. The farm was established as both a showcase for modern coffee farming and a catalyst for revitalising coffee production in the surrounding community, demonstrating what thoughtful cultivation and long-term investment can achieve.

This particular lot comes from Apex, the very highest tier of the Rodriguez family's production, representing coffees selected for their exceptional quality and precision. It is a remarkable expression of both Geisha and Bolivia's continually evolving coffee story, and one we are incredibly proud to share.

Coffee Profile

This exceptional Geisha comes from Finca La Llama and has been prepared using the Rodriguez family's distinctive Coco Natural process. Unlike many contemporary natural coffees, the cherries undergo no fermentation after harvest. Instead, perfectly ripe cherries are selectively hand harvested before beginning a carefully managed drying programme designed to preserve the intrinsic character of the fruit rather than transform it.

Drying begins with an initial period on raised beds beneath the Bolivian sun, allowing moisture to reduce gradually while the fruit develops sweetness and concentration. The cherries are then transferred to Agricafe's signature Coco dryers, where warm air circulates gently through rotating chambers to complete drying under carefully controlled conditions. This approach provides exceptional consistency while protecting delicate aromatics and preserving the clarity for which the Rodriguez family's coffees are renowned.

The result is a beautifully transparent expression of Geisha, where variety and terroir remain at the forefront.

In the cup, expect white peach, bergamot and jasmine. Sweet, elegantly creamy and wonderfully refined, the profile combines layered stone fruit acidity with delicate floral citrus notes, finishing with lingering jasmine aromatics and remarkable clarity.
